وشدد على أن القرار يهم كافة القوى السياسية في السودان حكومة ومعارضة مشيرا إلى أن حق تقرير المصير منح للجنوبيين خلال مؤتمر أسمرا للقضايا المصيرية وجددته إتفاقية السلام الشامل.

ودعا الرئيس السوداني للعمل على وحدة السودان موجها المفوضية للعمل بشفافية كاملة في جنوب السودان أو خارجه مع المشاركين في عملية الاستفتاء.

من جانبه تعهد البروفيسور محمد أبراهيم خليل رئيس مفوضية الاستفتاء بعد أدائه القسم بإنجاز المفوصية واجباتها ومهامها بأمانة و شفافية .
